Costas Stephanidess Review
Destroy all Elvis impersonators
Destroy All Humans has been popular on both console and mobile. It's no surprise to see another installment on the small screen. Unlike the previous turn based action game Vegas has a much more fluid feel with a very specific made for mobile feel.
The plot centres on Crypto doing what he does best, annihilating homo sapiens and anything that gets in the way of his blaster. There's a bit of a sub plot to all the mayhem but basically this is a free for all massacre across 17 levels.
The strangest thing about the game is not aliens running around Las Vegas but rather the control system. The game is played in isometric view which is notoriously awkward to move around using the Dpad or keys. However in Crypto Does Vegas the majority of the movement is done for you and your main concern is shooting and avoiding the enemy ray guns. Crypto will constantly move towards a designated spot on the screen. Left and right are used to meander Crypto around the level while generally moving where the CPU tells him. It's a bizarre concept that takes some time to master. As weird as it is, THQ must be commended for taking a new approach to the controls.
Once you've got your head round the controls, the rest of the game falls neatly into place. Most of the levels require you to destroy every moving thing but there a few missions where you have to shepherd them into designated areas, stun and then abduct. Bigger and more destructive weapons are gradually unveiled.
The graphics and game speed were good on the K800 and not much slowdown to report. The difficulty level is pitched pretty well. You may find the odd sticking point but just enough to tease you to try again. Your reward for completing the game? Unlocking the hard setting and having to do it all over again.
Console brands are tricky beasts to master on the mobile but THQ Wireless have once again brought some of the comedy and madcap action to the small screen and there should be enough to keep the fans amused.
