Anannya Sens Review
Not the mobile version of the hit film starring Chuck Norris
Ahh, the Delta Force films. Delta Force 1, 2 or 3, all were pretty pants and if it wasn't for Chuck, they would be even worse. Delta Force the game on the other hand was a really great PC game way back in the day. And what a day it was, for it spawned a number of sequels, some of which we've even reviewed.
Yep, when I started to play this game, I thought that everything looked and seemed a bit familiar, and after a quick search through stuff I have reviewed, found my review for Black Hawk Down. And after reading my review, realised that it's almost the same game.
The graphics have improved somewhat, with a bit more detail on the backgrounds and also the soldier's pics. Sound is similar with a funky tune and vibration during the levels as well as some speech effects on my handset. As for the controls, if you read my review for Black Hawk Down, you'll see that I mention one fatal flaw which thankfully they have fixed. Now you can move all three of your soldiers at the same time if you want, or just switch and move one at a time. This has significantly reduced the time taken to finish a level.
But to combat this, the levels have gotten a bit longer! You still have 3 types of soldier to control, the guy with the gun, a sniper and an engineer to defuse bombs, give out health and call air strikes. This time, the enemy are more intelligent than before and they are also more well positioned. No easy sneaking up on them and killing them quickly, no no, if one begins to shoot at you, his mates are now liable to join in as well.
This makes the levels a bit more tactical than before and the movement has to be more precisely thought out. Unfortunately the game doesn't allow you to actually save mid level which is a real shame. Still, the action is all there and as before, you have to use all your team members in most levels. Plotwise, there's not much difference from the last one as now you have to face off against the Russian Mafia who are funding terrorists. You also get to drive trucks (like the tank levels before) but this is tougher as there are more people to shoot and you get chased by bikes. Don't worry, you can drop mines to make sure no one gets too close.
There would have been more to write in this review had the game not played basically exactly the same as Black Hawk Down. Still, I really enjoyed that due to the intense action, and this is no different. It's just not hugely innovative is all, and perhaps I was expecting a lot to heavily improve the game, because if it works, why change it? Aside from possibly improving the graphics to make them 3D or very detailed 2D, this is an action game that will not disappoint.
