Anannya Sens Review
A decent ping pong game which takes a little bit of getting used to. But there are plenty of modes to choose from and it should keep you going for quite a while.
This is a good game for your phone but is a little tricky and takes some getting used to.
The graphics are not that bad, 3D images of the table and the ball. The ball moves pretty quickly and you get a good feeling of the speed you would do from a top class match. Plus the intro is really really cool.
The sound is pretty basic, although the sound of the ball is perfect. Some kind of tune would have been nice though.
The controls are a little tricky. The returns are performed with 4,5 or 6 depending on where the ball goes. Holding the button down increases the strength of your return and you can direct the return using either 1 or 3 or the left / right directional pad. The bottom red bar determines the power of the return and the blue bar above determines the direction (swerve) of the return.
The playability is ok, but I have to say I found it hard going. The idea was great, and the graphics and set up really good for this type of game. However, I found it pretty hard to win points. Like most tennis games, you have to anticipate where the ball is going in order to provide a really good return, but the speed of ping pong makes this quite difficult. I never progressed above beginner.
The lastability will be good I think, once you can get used to playing the game. There are several modes, including one where the AI is perfect, so it's a question of how long can you last. There is a good instruction mode and you can keep high score.
Plus one bonus is the game autopauses once you have an incoming call or you suspend it.
Overall a good game which takes a lot of getting used to, but once you do, I'm sure it will be well worth the effort. Unfortunately I realised I am no good at ping pong.
