Costas Stephanidess Review
A challenging game which can get frustrating at times as you wait for your next bite but very satisfying when you reel in the big fish.
This is a good game for all you wannabe fishermen. The game has it all; bait selection, chum, various locations and sharks, plenty of booby prizes like tin cans and apparently even a mermaid.
The controls are straight forward. First you have to choose between the Californian, Australian or African coast to start your hunt and then you have to select your bait. Plenty of options are available from chicken to tuna. Not sure if certain bait attract certan sharks - maybe one for the true fishermen to answer.
You have 15 'minutes' to catch five different types of shark. You can change locations between catches which will help you catch all the varieties.
Once you have cast your line, all you have to do is wait for a little nibble. After a couple of nibbles, the sharks tend to take a proper bite and the fight between man and fish begins. An indicator in the bottom corner shows which way the shark is pulling. You have to press the opposite button to slowly reel the fish in. If successful, you get a nice graphic of your shark and its length and weight.
If your catch reels in very easily, chances are its a rubber tyre or a boot and you've wasted a minute or two. If its a serious struggle, it might be a sabretooth shark which eats you and your boat! You do have the option to let the catch if you think its too powerful to catch.
It's quite easy to catch one or two sharks in the time limit, but too catch all five is a challenge. Although luck does play a part if you want five successful catches.
The sound is poor and seemed to affect the gameplay on my mobile. However, the vibration is good and should always be on as it is useful.
All in all a good simulation that has made me shout 'here fishy fishy' on more than one occassion.
