Costas Stephanides’s Review

A good action platformer with excellent replay value

Croc Mobile is naturally based on the cute console character. The pint sized version carries on the cuteness.

The game style is quite similar to Spyro in that it's an isometric 3D game. The game comprises a set of individual levels. The fundamentals are the same for each level; find the key and then go to the cage to unlock your friend. Along the way you can collect diamonds. If you manage to collect all them - there are 9 in each level, then a new feature is unlocked. I wont spoil the surprise because I don't know it. The game is very big and would take many hours to complete it. It is definitely value for money.

So if it takes a long time to play, will you enjoy it? The graphics are nicely drawn and the controls are quite good, so overall it should be a pleasure. You can use the D-pad to move around in the usual four directions. 5 makes Croc jump and 0 makes him spin (this is how you get rid of the evil Dantinis). Some 3D games come across a little awkward when it comes to picking up the basics. Croc Mobile comes through this quite well. You do not need to think too much about which direction to press and it is all quite intuitive. The game has a number of steps and dips and you do have to be careful and make sure you do not accidentally fall off a cliff. The levels are easy, its just a matter of completing each level in turn. As easy as it may be, boredom and monotony have not yet arrived and there is enough incentive to complete the game to see what happens next.

The sound is the only niggle with the game. It is very average, a few sound effects and that's about it (on the Nokia). Having the sound does slow the game speed down so in my view it's best not to have it on.

Other than that the game ticks all the boxes to create a good solid game.
