Costas Stephanides s Review
Part two in the series...
We've already reviewed the first game in the series and loved it and the second one doesn't disappoint. Basically, the sound and the controls are very similar to the original. However, the plot has advanced and there are a few tie-ins with the other games in the series. The more you play these games, the more immersed you become in the series.
You now take the roll of a female warrior and your weapon is a chunky hammer. The quality of the graphics is similar to the original but the majority of the game is based outdoors (forest/cemetery) rather in a castle. At least the designers are allowed to draw a few trees and bushes! The enemies are different. The spiders are gone and its time to welcome the hellhounds and zombies. Once again, check out our hints for tips and cheats, including ways to play as a hellhound.
The difficulty level is pretty similar to Ancient Ruins 1. The game is very maze-like and you can spend a large amount of your time looking for that elusive unlocked door.
With all games in the series you can import existing characters. It is handy in this game as different paths can be taken if you have high experience points. Alternatively, you can play through the game two or three times and gain exp. that way.
Personally, I found this slightly more enjoyable than the original. The battles are more frantic but it is a harder game.
