Anannya Sens Review
A very nice looking game which is hard to play but has several stages.
Mr Bean is a brilliant creation by the genius of Rowan Atkinson. Everybody knows this. Mr Bean, the mobile phone game is an average creation. Not everyone knows this.
The plot is simple, Mr Bean has to race against some nasty three wheelers with his beloved Teddy in tow, in his little mini. It??s a racing game.
The graphics are the best thing about this game. They are slickly done and full of colour. The backgrounds are nice and the cars look and move really well. There is a little map showing you where you are and you can see what position you are in as well as your gear and speed.
There isn't a lot of sound. There are some cool Mr Bean sounds when you load the game up or when you finish or die, but there is no real sound in the game. There could have been screeching of tires or some acceleration noise (it is a mini after all) but nothing.
The controls are very very straightforward. The car is always accelerating. You can use the D or key pad to move the car. Up or 2 will accelerate in a straight line, right or 6 will turn and accelerate right. Left or 4 will turn and accelerate left. 8 or down will brake. Nothing more to it than that.
The playability is distinctly average. The game looks great, but the car is very hard to control. The turning circle is really tough and you can??t really make tight turns. There are plenty of trees on the side of the road and when you go off road, and you will, you can get stuck for ages behind a tree or just keep hitting them as you try and take a turn. The opposition isn't really much of a problem, but again, if you bump into them and go off road then you??ll have a tough time getting back into pole. This is not an issue on the easy and longer courses but on the shorter and quicker ones, it makes finishing in a good position really difficult.
The lastability is not bad. There are three difficulty levels and plenty of courses. The game suspends and resumes and autosaves where you left off. The problem is that it's not a lot of fun to play as it??s so hard. I suppose that with a lot of practice, time and effort you may get really good at this game and enjoy it loads and prove me wrong. Please write to me and let me know if you do this.
Worth getting if you absolutely love all things Bean.
