New Chillingo game Ravensword out soon

Story added: 27 Oct 2009 22:06

There follows a little synopsis by the developers, Crescent Moon

Developers of the game have been playing games since they were little and have a good idea what it takes to build a stunning 3D action RPG. The idea of Ravensword: The Fallen King manifested itself and evolved into something as they were working on game play elements. The game is about the power of one character to save a kingdom, and the power of the sword itself.

In Ravensword, you start off with nothing. You need to earn your keep, so to speak. You are an unknown, and work your way up - eventually finding out who you are. Whether it is slaying beasts, doing mini games, or finding clues - your character grows from your exploration and time you put in. Things are revealed over time in the game. Russ Menapace's humor really comes through in the game's dialogue as well - if you really read into it, there are alot of references and satire from the "outside" world. In writing the story, Josh Presseisen wrote a brief synopsis of each quest, including some dialogue for the characters. Russ really refined it and put in his own "form" of humor.

The game is all about exploration. Its a wide open world. You can do side quests, mini games, hunt for beasts, look for treasure, whatever you like. Even after the main story ends, you can go back out into the world and keep leveling up, and there are certain beasts that you can't beat until the main storyline is finished.

Combat system is pretty standard hack n slash. There is a lot of NPC interaction, which leads to questing and missions of course.
Ravensword has a point based leveling system, with your abilities and attributes increased each time you level up. Your inventory is accessible by the backpack icon on the HUD. There is an alphabetized list of all of your weapons and items, which makes it a little easier to quickly get what you need - as long as you know the name of what you want.

There will be add on packs to Ravensword. The first "episode" of Ravensword will be followed by the second, which we are calling an expansion pack. It may end up being an entirely new version of the game with new items, characters, and weapons in it.
