Best Sports Award

It's not just about football anymore as that has it's own category now! There have been a number of great sports titles this year and we had real trouble picking our winners. What's even better to see is the variety of the sports coming out as developers realized that they can do basketball games and boxing games to good effect on the mobile. In fact, the possibilities are endless (although we wouldn't want to see a curling game).

A basketball game with real attitude this has everything you would expect in the dunks, general play and amount of characters you can select. Forget NBA Jam, this game's on fire! Click here for the review.

Freestyle Motocross II

A game which took up the first quarter of my life for 2006. The physics engine is simply amazing and once you get used to it, you will never sleep again. Perfectly pitched in difficulty and ridiculously addictive. Click here for the review.

Playman Beach Volley 3D

Beach Volleyball from the masters of the sports genre, Mr Goodliving, we can't stop playing this simple and fun game even now! Click here for the review.

Powerpuff Girls Snowboarding

Who'da thunk that this would make it in here? But it does as it's a sports game that's so much fun to play and is similar in gameplay and addictiveness to FMXII but is a lot cuter. Click here for the review.

Super KO Boxing

Anyone remember the old boxing games on the consoles? This is ten times better and incredibly addictive. Click here for the review.

Playman Beach Volley 3D

This is a first for us here at MGF, a tie in a category. We couldn't decide on which game was better, even after about 500 coin tosses. Playman Beach Volleyball has everything you could want in a sports game, and FMX-II is so addictive that the staff here had to prise it out of my hands to get it away from me. So deservedly they both win the award as the best example of what sports games should be about.
